Recycling Plastic

Recycling plastic has become important issue for municipal authorities and government around the world. Popularly nick named as “white pollution”. What makes plastic a dangerous waste product is its ability to break into toxic bits and then contaminate soil and water thus entering back into food chain.

Under plastic recycling process waste plastic is recovered by chemical process designed to recover scrap and turn them into useful plastic products. These days’ modern recycling plastic plants recover waste plastic from water bottles or plastic containers and then turn them into useful plastic, which is used into making plastic chair, tables, and recycled plastic toys. Under this process before plastic can be recycled it is categorized into “Resin Identification Code”. This is a method designed to identify plastic correctly for its polymer type. This method was invented by “Society of Plastic” in the year 1988.

Every year billions of waste plastic material enters into sewage and water stream. The cost to clean up sewage and blockages caused by these plastic wastes are high. Many countries especially in western world were environment guidelines for recycling plastic are strict offshore plastic recycling to third word countries. One it is cheaper and second the laws in third world countries are less strict. Recycling plastic also creates air pollution and it’s after processing extract can degrade the soil and water.

The awareness of recycling plastic and its disadvantages has led some government banning plastic bags for use and in some cases applying higher taxes for it use. In South Africa consumers are charges extra tax for using plastic bags. In third world countries like Bangladesh government has put full ban on plastic. People are being encourages to bring their own jute or cloth bags to carry grocery. All these factors are helping in reduction of plastic use and spreading the word about recycling plastic.
