Recycling Plastic Bottles

The use of water bottles is very common in our daily life. We are totally dependent upon portable water bottles. Our homes, refrigerator, office canteen and public restaurant facilities are flooded with all kinds of water bottles. It is convenient and less hassle to arrange water for large gathering be it marriage or picnic. I remember when I was going to school my Mom will fill water in water in nice water bottle. I will use same bottle again and again till it looses its utility. Time has changed and so has our use of water bottles. Now a day’s things are different. My wife will give packed water bottle to kids for daily water consumption. After their use water bottles find their way to dumpster and then to city recycling plastic bottle facility.

Just look at stats coming out of Consumer Guide and from Beverage Marketing Corp about the use of water bottles in America. According to their research around 28 billion gallons of bottled water was consumed in the year 2006. Around 20.5 billion pounds of plastic was recycled in the year 2007. These stats alone are enough to tell us how much plastic we are dumping into city garbage disposal system. We really need clean and safe recycling facility to recycle used plastic otherwise it will affect public health and our ecosystem. It is known fact that plastic does not dissolve completely. It breaks into small molecules and will find its way to contaminate soil and water bed. It becomes very important to have plastic recycled through a recycling facility to convert into usable products.

What we need is more recycling plastic bottle facilities to keep up with consumption demand. While there is demand for recycled plastic from companies who are in business of making recycled plastic products. But there is delay at recycling plants. The plastic recycling plants are very few and often found only in big cities. Rest of the plastic is dumped at landfills close to cities. There is need to create more recycling plastic facilities to cover the ever increasing consumption demand for bottled water. Although investment in recycling plant is high but benefits are also high. Recycling not only keeps environment clean and protects ecosystem but also generates revenue for cities. It also saves energy. The energy used in producing new plastic from raw material takes more then producing recycled plastic. It is a win-win situation for everyone.
