Microwave Oven Disposal

The first option which I exercise is to give unwanted things to friends, extended family members or to local goodwill/Thrift stores. I believe by doing this I am helping nature and putting less pressure on natural resources, which in turn is putting less pressure on our environment. The other option is keeping unwanted Microwave in your front yard with sign “FREE”. Many times strangers passing through my street and taken working electronics that include microwave also.

The next option I exercise is to look for recycling facility close to my home. The nearest facility I get the waste management company which works with counties to dispose the electronics. Some time these companies or some non-profits working for protecting environment carry neighborhood drive to collect unused or damaged microwaves for recycling. In case you are unlucky to find any recycling facility close to your home, check with your state environment website or check at earth911.com website. Another option to check for recycling facility address is through web or yellow page directory.

These recycling facilities strip useable parts from microwave and rest of the stuff is recycled to create basic metal used in building microwave. This recycled material is sold to manufactures.
